Emma Webster is a Labour Mp and a former teacher. She has a daughter she adores but the challenges of her role means her co-parenting with her ex husband who is married to someone known personally to the family which lead to a huge fall out, a situation that is now tolerated.
This book delves into what Emma goes through and now we live in a digital world of social media the amount of abuse and threats she receives is off the charts. Knowing some of the things said Emma still has to put her game face on and do her job.
Her daughter makes a terrible mistake by posting something unkind about someone at school who has been bullying her. But there are consequences.
Emma is upset about it but tries to get the story quashed and not out in the public domain.
Sadly for her she gets intimate with a journalist that she knows well and has worked well with him in many successful campaigns. For her it is a mistake although a pleasant one. But he is smitten by her. She rebuffs him and this is where the story turns ugly.
The pace ramps up and things go so far out of control that Emma ends up in court literally fighting for her life and her reputation.
What will the jury believe? And it is uncomfortable and Emma gets some comfort from the person she detests!!! This is also where she sees who is truly for or against her.
The story begs the question, how far would you go to protect your reputation?
