* Complexities of Love*
This book was like experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions. Even though at times I could see what was going to happen, it still touched my heart and there were moments that I had to pause before I continued on with the story.
As the title suggests this book takes place over six summers and with the seventh being the present time. The main character is Liv who meets Finn in the bar she is working in. He is in a band. Their chemistry is undeniable. The story is based around the beautiful Cornish coastline.
This should be a lovely and shiny new relationship. But, it is marred by tragedy. The tragedy is not just one sided. This tragedy puts Finn in the right position to help Liv, is there a future for them? With Liv’s future based in Cornwall and Finn’s life based in LA. Can a long distance relationship in its infancy last??
They both decide to have no contact and when he returns if they are single they will get together. This is easier said than done. Finn lives with his Dad & Family in LA. While Cornwall is home for the rest of his family.
We see how this affects them over the different summers, how realistic is this set up? Will there be a toll on both of their hearts?….
In the present day there is a possible chance of a real relationship with someone new in the form of a handsome and impossibly tall guy called Tom. Now, as Liv gets closer to him she wonders how she will feel if Finn returns….. not to mention she has a huge decision to make when Tom reveals a terrifying secret…..
Love is never straightforward but, it has a way of creeping up on you….
I did wonder if the different summers would be easy to follow or confusing. Thankfully the story was weaved together clearly and I liked the way that Paige Toon handled the epilogue.
Not my favourite
Not a fan of the way it’s written tbh. I don’t think it flowed, the dialogue and overall monologue was very to the point and almost over-informative with the world building. the story is cute at least
