Publisher Description
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho continues to change the lives of its readers forever. With more than two million copies sold around the world, The Alchemist has established itself as a modern classic, universally admired.
Paulo Coelho’s masterpiece tells the magical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure as extravagant as any ever found.
The story of the treasures Santiago finds along the way teaches us, as only a few stories can, about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, learning to read the omens strewn along life’s path, and, above all, following our dreams.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Jeremy Irons’ narration is the perfect way to experience Brazilian author Paulo Coelho’s modern classic. His silky voice brings unexpected dimensions to the fable about a young shepherd boy who travels from Spain to the Egyptian pyramids. Irons’ perfect pacing builds up suspense, making the most of the story's Kipling-like thrills and adventure; he also does a great job highlighting the underlying message of self-actualization. Coelho's healing prose has never sounded so good.
Customer Reviews
Simple and profound
The simplicity of the setting of this book enhances the depths of its content. Often symbolism and classical structure delivers huge themes more efficiently than very complex ones. The comments of the Alchemist about people and life are so full of wisdom without pretence. I liked the passion of certain opinions either liked or not delivered by the Alchemist. Reading the book he becomes somebody always with something to say that we learn to appreciate no matter of his temper.
Amazing
I was recommended this book by ChatGPT because I was at a point in my life where I lost hope but I had a burning desire to go on.
Although it may seem to be a short listen, every minute told tales of a lifetime.
Jeremy Irons gosh, your voice, I’ll pay to listen to you speak.
Six stars
Magical.
