This is a twisty thriller, this drew me in from the start.
A police officer needs to crack a case, the trouble is, he has an advantage, why?…..
A well known criminal defence lawyer who is not popular due to the villains she defends. She finds herself in the unenviable position that may push her to break the law, why???
And there is a couple who think they have mastered the perfect crime. The trouble is they often go off script.
All four of these people have something to lose, there is a link between all of them but who is pulling the strings?. Can they be trusted? And who will come out on top?
This book was easy to follow and the main characters were deliciously dark and I could throughly enjoyed it.
Excellent thriller
Twists and turns to keep you guessing all the way through. Great voices who make listening enjoyable and exciting
How far would you go to protect your own?
Brilliant!!! This was my first time using an Audio Book and I don’t think I could have picked a better one. To have both male and female voices narrating, was not what I expected but it worked so well. Both Olivia Darnly and Paul Thornly were so clear and how they adapted to the different characters throughout the story made it so much more enjoyable. I loved the ending and the revelations of the involvement of all the characters throughout the book, it was so well written. Thank you Simon Kernick, I will certainly look forward to listening to some more of your books, this one was a good choice for our Book Club, plenty of twists and turns to discuss. So well written, setting the scenes, character descriptions, making the story chillingly real. A real insight into the closely entwined conspiracies and deception of our police, legal institution and villains alike. Does justice finally prevail? I think so in one way or another!
