APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
“The future was here and it was a f***ing mess.” So says Agent Logan Ramsay in this dystopian sci-fi thriller from the creator of the Wayward Pines trilogy. Flawed hero Ramsay works for the federal Gene Protection Agency, pursuing rogue scientists guilty of DNA editing in dark labs. In these underground facilities, terrifying diseases can be engineered, super-drugs can be hacked and synthetic animal species can be illegally bred. Ramsay has a personal stake in this gene war—even more so when he’s caught in a mysterious bomb blast which rewrites his own genome. There are shades of superhero comic books and The Matrix movies as Ramsay begins to develop extraordinary abilities. However, he’s not the only one “upgraded” and soon becomes a fugitive from justice, fighting for the future of humanity. Devotees of William Gibson, David Mitchell and Iain M. Banks will find much to enjoy in this vivid imagining of the near-future, while action fans will relish the hard-boiled fight sequences as the propulsive story goes up through the gears, hurtling towards its high-stakes climax. Unexpectedly moving, impressively researched, chillingly prescient.

*Next Level Madness*
This is not usually my kind of genre it is more of a Sci-fi thriller with a lot of technical jargon, that aside I did find it interesting and mind blowing at the lengths some scientists will go to, to stroke their egos and it becomes about something else and sinister when they forget about the possible consequences.
We have Logan Ramsay the son of a mother with a genius scientific mind, when something goes badly wrong he is the left to take the blame while she disappears presumed dead….
Years later he is happy living a life with his wife and daughter when out on a work assignment there is an accident and just like that he notices things with his mind and body are changing, why? Now where he has been hunting strange things going on he becomes the hunted.
The difference with him is he has a conscious and now that he realises his genes have been hacked, it eventually turns him into a superhuman and this attack on him is not random. Someone close to home wants to replicate it and release it into the wider population. Now that does not sit well with Logan and he ends up running a race to stop it while trying to evade capture. He is put to the ultimate test and can never have the life he once had and this version of Logan has to step up way out of his comfort zone, is he enough…..
