For fans of Ruth Hogan, Veronica Henry and Sarah Morgan, about unexpected friendships, starting again and finding your passion for life.
'Welcome to Ocean View. You don't know it yet, but you'll be happy here...'
Julia's not running away. Not exactly. She just needs a break from Paris and Marc and all the sad stuff that's been going on lately. A little time to pull herself together.
The job offer felt like a lifeline. But now she's back in Biarritz, suitcase in hand, she hasn't the faintest idea what she was thinking.
What Julia doesn't yet know is there's more to the odds and ends of Ocean View than meet the eye. Behind the double doors lie broken hearts, lifelong secrets, a touch of romance and an unwavering passion for life. And sometimes it's the most unlikely of places and people who help you find your way.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Virginie Grimaldi’s heart-warming novel follows Julia, a young Parisian woman desperate to leave the city (and memories of recent losses) behind. After she accepts a job in a retirement home in the seaside town of Biarritz and befriends its residents, a tender story of love and new beginnings starts to unfold. Intelligent, witty and with a wry sense of humour, we instantly fell for our French heroine and rooted for her as she blossomed. The conversations Julia has with the residents may be raw and emotional, but this novel’s uplifting storyline is guaranteed to set your heart aglow.
Customer Reviews
Stick with it - it’s worth it.
I found this a slow starter and I didn’t like the lead character very much at first. Stick with it, the lead character’s development is really the core of the book and the writing and side characters are what make it a lovely book.
Wonderful
I felt compelled to leave a review as this book is something else! Whilst it can be enjoyed as nice story, it also gives a unique perspective we can draw from to find courage, a greater appreciation for what we have & acceptance to allow ourselves peace. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey & the feeling I’m left with!
How to find love in the little things
Wonderful, interesting, beautiful. The best book l’ve read in a very long time.
I’m 71 years old, so qualify for a place at Ocean
View - if l ever have to go into a home, that will be the one for me!
I’m suddenly old - yes, it really does happen suddenly - but l’m not sad about that. Rather, l’m thankful l’ve lasted so long. I’ve learnt so very much along the way, but here l am having learnt again and again whilst reading this book. Lovely.
Every character is a gem, especially some of the old folk, and l love them all, flaws and all. The story is unusual, really interesting, and the last reveal was a total surprise!
To the author - you are a fabulous writer, and l can’t wait to read your next one!!
