Publisher Description
The riveting new thriller from Marshall Karp, cocreator and coauthor, with James Patterson, of the #1 New York Times bestselling NYPD Red series
The most powerful drug lord on the planet, Joaquín Alboroto, has a gift for New York City—four thousand pounds of uncut cocaine burying Central Park and raining death upon hundreds of innocent people enjoying a summer afternoon. The only NYPD unit trained to go up against this level of terrorism has been disbanded, so the task falls to former NYPD captain Danny Corcoran. In this heart-stopping, unflinching, and highly entertaining thriller of life and death, drugs and heroism, Corcoran leads a team of retired top cops, funded by four anonymous billionaires, on a mission to stop Alboroto before it’s too late.
Snowstorm in August also features a sneak peek at the much-awaited next book in the popular NYPD Red series, NYPD Red 7: The Murder Sorority—a perfect holiday read coming 11/22/22.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This adrenaline-fueled thriller from bestseller Karp (the Lomax and Biggs mysteries) opens with a terror attack. New Yorkers are stunned by what appears to be a massive summertime snowfall limited to Central Park. They're horrified when the falling white powder turns out to be thousands of pounds of cocaine, which kills hundreds. The coke was dropped from a helicopter on the orders of drug lord Joaquín Alboroto, "one of the most loved, most hated, most feared men on the planet." A flashback explains why Alboroto has declared a vendetta against New York City. Alboroto's narcotrafficker son, Sebastián, is about to walk on federal charges because of a tainted chain of evidence, when Harvey Solomon, the terminally ill judge who dismissed them and whose son overdosed on drugs supplied by the Alborotos, guns Sebastián down in his courtroom. Alboroto is opposed by a secret team of ex-cops, financed by unidentified billionaires, led by Solomon's son-in-law. Awkward prose ("Like any hurricane, war, or can of soup, a disaster needs a label") matches the over-the-top plot. Some will tune in for a sequel just to see how much wilder future rides will get.

Snowstorm in August
How did Marshall Karp think up this story line? Very original and entertainingr. And an added bonus is the author’s wry humor
I very enjoyable read
Not riveting, but a good, interesting plot, pretty well developed characters, that pace and writing was good. Worth the time, and lowered price
