Praise for Checking In:
"Michelle Williams is one of the bravest, strongest women I know. She has fought through very public struggles and dark, hidden days of depression. And now, in Checking In, she's putting it all out there for everyone to see. Her story is powerful and relatable, and she wants you to know that you are not alone. Healing is possible. And she's here to walk through it with you."

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Grammy-winning singer and actor Williams debuts with a revealing account of the depression she felt despite finding success and fame as a member of the R&B group Destiny's Child. After Destiny's Child disbanded in 2006, Williams continued to perform in theater productions and make albums, but she writes of feeling lost and withdrawn, and of distancing herself from God because she was afraid of disappointing him. In 2018, Williams's depression became an overwhelming "sea of darkness," and she began planning her own funeral. Realizing she needed help, she checked into a hospital, where she discovered the tools that would equip her to fulfill God's plan. Now a mental health advocate, she emphasizes the need to "check in" daily with God, oneself, and loved ones. While little practical advice is given, Williams encourages those suffering to "replace the lies with truth" by "trusting in the character of God." Christians struggling with depression will relate to and find comfort in Williams's vulnerable reflections.

I love it!
I actually just started reading this book because of my own personal experiences with depression and anxiety, it wasn’t until I started to read this book that I realized how checked out I am. So now I’m going to slowly start checking in.. with God, Family, Friends and Myself! Thank you for this amazing book!
Inspiring, Heart-felt & a Good Laugh!
This was the first book I had really gone out of my way to read in years, but it truly kept me engaged and it did not disappoint! This book showed the good & bad reality that we can all relate with. Through her personal experiences, analogies, biblical references, etc. I can definitely say that by the end of this book, I have been provided tools, faith & courage to check-in with myself, my circle & our creator to become my best self & create a safe, loving space for those around me. Thanks for such a stunning read, Michelle & team! Hope you release another book!
Checking In - Amazing Honesty
Wow! Where to start?! I’ve been a fan of Michelle’s since her days in Destiny’s Child, and have followed her work for a majority of my life. When I heard about her releasing, “Checking In,” I was ecstatic. Not only for the new venture, but because the book’s main focus is on the struggle of mental health.
I’m impressed with and admire how personal, honest, and open Michelle is in, “Checking In.” It can be hard telling your family and friends about struggles you’re facing, let alone the whole world. No topic was left off limits - relationships, family, career, Destiny’s Child. Everything is in the book! It’s also great reading the bits of advice Michelle gives about how she handled situations and the lessons she’s learned as a result of her depression and anxiety. Plus, the sense of humor Michelle has really shines through! I’ve already purchased four copies of the book, and can’t wait to hear the audiobook!
This is a must read for everyone! Thank you, Michelle, for putting your heart into this memoir! I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
